Andal Jaganathan

 

Andal Jaganathan is a teacher by training and a learner in practice, a content consultant by profession and a waste warrior by passion. She currently works with the IISc on the campus-wide solid waste management project SWaMII (Solid Waste Management, IISc). She has been active in the waste management field since 2010 when the apartment complex that she stays in started their Zero Waste Management program.

Chief Happy Maker at Think Happy Everyday, Craig co-founded THE, THE Workshop and THE Language Lab.  Creative Director, travel writer, experiential educator and Communication Skills lecturer, he has over a decade of experience across advertising, branding and events before founding THE. A Master of Journalism and Mass Comm and an XIC alumnus, Craig has worked as a copywriter in creative agencies across London, Bangalore and Bombay for some of the most advanced brands in the world.

Archana Kashyap

 

Global Techie Manager and the driver of 2bin1bag social media, Archana is a computer science engineer with about a decade of healthcare industry experience. She is an active member of SWMRT, Kasa-Muktha-Bellandur and the 2bin1bag initiatives. She believes in team work and expanding the SWM circle of warriors. She was instrumental in creating the websites www.2bin1bag.in and www.SwachaGraha.in, in order to make Solid Waste Management a simple and sustainable process.

Dr. Dhairya Mehta

 

Dr. Dhairya Mehta is currently working as a Process Researcher at Shell Technology Centre Bangalore. His research focus is in the area of conversion of biomass residues and municipal solid waste in to hydrocarbon fuels. Prior to joining Shell, Dhairya completed his chemical engineering doctorate thesis in the area of biofuels from Purdue University, USA. He hails from Mumbai and enjoys reading biographies in his free time.

Gururaj P

 

Gururaj is a Sr. IT Consultant by profession at HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise). He has 10 Years of IT experience and lead successfully HP employee Hackathon events in HP Bangalore and Chennai campuses. Having completed his Masters in Computer Science & Physics, he is also Vice Chair for APJ Community Engagement Programs in HPE and a member of “The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Karnataka” Gururaj P is also a Trustee of Annadhana Foundation, an NGO which helps in moving the left over food to the needy both in Mangalore and Bangalore. In 2011, he was also one of the final nominees for Water Ambassador position by Water & Sanitation Programme (WSP) of the World Bank during the Water Hackathon Event. Ph: 9886071714

Kapil Malhotra

 

Kapil has worked globally in the field of sustainable technologies with specialization in bio-energy. He is currently working as a trade commissioner in Canadian Consulate- Bengaluru. He is responsible for the Agri, Wood, infrastructure, Automobile and Sustainable technologies as key sectors. Mr. Malhotra holds a MBA from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun and specializes in Energy Management. He completed his Diploma in International Business and Engineering with specialization in Instrumentation and control. He is an energy professional and during his 11 years of career he has worked extensively in the area of energy including waste to energy, bioenergy and biomass characterization & utilization. Marwan Abubaker

 

A farmer, a foodie, an animal lover and environmentalist,  Marwan Abubaker has over twelve years of experience across agriculture, fish farming and community services. Following a brief stint with the corporate sector, Marwan found his true calling in the developmental sector. He and his siblings set up The Golden Husk, an NGO working in Kanakapura on Animal Welfare & Environment Issues. In 2009, he joined Radio Active- a community radio station to head the Community based projects for the station. An active member of the Solid Waste Management Roundtable (SWMRT) in Bangalore, he took up the initiative to pilot the first Dry Waste Collection Center in HSR Layout in 2011. This pilot project, helped establish the case for the need for Neighbourhood Dry Waste Collection Centers. In 2011, he was part of the core team that organized the Bengaluru Recycling Habba in Bangalore, in addition to conceptualization the Recyclathon Awards along with his colleagues. In May 2014, he joined Hasiru Dala as Director-Operations and has worked extensively for the betterment of waste pickers and waste workers.

Prashant Mehra

 

Prashant is a Social Intrapreneur at Mindtree building open access digital platforms to enhance Grassroots Livelihood and Skills. He heads the social inclusion vertical at Mindtree. His current focus is to build technology enabled micro-businesses in the areas of waste management, small farmer agriculture, and community inclusion towards problem solving. He is the co-founder of “I Got Garbage” - a platform to enhance rag-picker livelihood, "I Got Crops" for farmers, and "I Got Skills" for education and vocational skills. In his 20 years of industry experience he has extensively worked in the areas of architecture and consulting. Before founding I Got Garbage, he headed Mindtree’s Consulting business in UK & Europe.

Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan

 

Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan (Siva) is a professional with more than 20 years of experience in Management Consulting in the field of Supply Chain Management and Analytics. He is working with CGN & Associates in their Bangalore office. He has been participating in causes centred around waste management and conservation for the last two years. He is an avid listener of Carnatic music and was himself a student of the violin for 16 years. Among his other hobbies are reading and long distance running.

T.V.JAYARAMAN -TEEJAY

 

An IITM graduate - T. Jayaraman - often referred to as Teejay is the Founder and Managing Director of SECO Controls Pvt. Ltd an energy based engineering company - which is the sole Indian manufacturer of oxygen analysers. “Teejay” is an Industry veteran in the engineering and energy field and is a consultant in energy auditing for over 40 years.  He has been the National President of Indian Association of Energy Management Professionals and also accredited as the best energy auditor for the year (2009) by the State Government. He is also the founder director of Indian Council for professionals in energy efficiency business. Teejay was selected by Shell Foundation to be a consultant for improving Engineering Design for operations and performance for one of the world's largest RURAL GRID COMPANY. His passion for teaching and mentoring led him to interact with a lot of youngsters only to realise that they had just the theoretical knowledge and minimal practical knowledge thus leading to the birth of the idea for E-Quad Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd. His commitment on environment is reflected in design of his office building and home - with 0% discharge. Wilma Rodrigues

 

Wilma Rodrigues is the founder and CEO of Saahas Zero Waste (SZE ), a social enterprise that was registered in 2013. Wilma is a former journalist who worked for several years with the Times of India group and Business World Magazine in Mumbai before she moved to Bengaluru and started NGO Saahas in 2001.

SZE which has a business model has evolved from NGO Saahas. SZE today manages 20 tonnes of waste in Bangalore and Chennai. The focus is implementing zero waste campuses for bulk waste generators. The company has also partnered with packaging companies including Tetra Pak to develop and implement a reverse logistics mechanism which collects different types of waste streams from multiple collection partners, aggregates and dispatches to same to various recyclers.

Raahul Khadaliya

 

Raahul is a systems thinker focused on sustainable practices in the city of Bangalore. On a mission to design sustainably, he utilizes his training in communication & product design to develop eco-friendly and user-centric design solutions. ABCD - Raahul’s studio - explores sustainability through various mediums of design targeting social, environmental, cultural and economical aspects. The Second Life, a brand under ABCD, is an initiative to bring awareness about sustainability through simple day to day products, working with waste materials, their materiality and usability. This initiative is, also, a result of the conscious need for a milestone or case study of how businesses can adapt sustainable design and thinking. Dr.Joshy Cherian

 

Area of Specialization: Organic Agriculture and Solid Waste Management

 

Dr. Joshy is the Promoter & Managing Director of Omega Ecotech Products India Pvt.Ltd. An active organic farmer and farm consultant, he is also the founder chairman of the  Indian Organic Farmers Producer Company Ltd, a facilitator of Anthiyur Wasteland Development Project and was the former technical advisor for Tamil Nadu Co- Operative State Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, Chennai.

He has completed his BSc, & MSc., Botany from University of Kerala and also holds a Ph.D, Environmental Science from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He has also won the "Young Scientist Award" in 2003 and received “ROTARY INTERNATIONAL AWARD” for Community Development.

Krishna Kumar

 

Krishna Kumar founded “Quantum Leap Guru” in 2013 – with focus on helping people develop to become successful in their endeavors. He strives to achieve this by ingenius and extensive research and development of unique mentoring and coaching practices most appropriate for the context. He is very active in Organic Gardening space and has developed an ecosystem - “The Leadership Prototyping Lab” in which emerging & practicing leaders can safely explore their potential to a new level. To serve his passion, he conducts regular experiential workshops on Composting & Home Gardening, enabling households effectively handle the waste generated and grow their own food. He has over 20 years experience in the automotive industry as well with 5 years in a senior level. He is also a Certified Executive Mentor and Coach, has completed an Executive General Management Program at IIMB, SPIN Selling from Huthwaite Intl, Singapore and is currently pursuing Masters in Psychology. Myriam Shankar

 

Myriam Shankar, 49 years, is the co founder of SWMRT and a trained professional in Logistics and Programme Management. She has 25 years of experience in this field with emphasis on business processes and strategy, audit and compliance.  For the past 7 years she has been working under the umbrella of SWMRT for the cities waste management with focus on the strategy, legal aspects and advocacy. Ravikiran Annaswamy

 

Ravikiran is Founder and CEO of Innohabit Technologies. He is working on various innovations enabling proximity marketing in real world. As Founder Director of Deccan Center of Innovation and Design ( DCID), he works with young entrepreneurs helping them to get started and achieve market success with focus on impact innovations. He was also Co-founder and Investor at Teritree Technologies - a Personalized Email marketing technology venture. He has over 20 years of business experience as Entrepreneur and as Business Leader at Nokia Siemens Networks and Siemens AG. He has vast experience of launching successful technology solutions for global markets, mainly in the area of Analytics and Marketing automation, Online Billing and Charging, Innovative 3G/4G applications, Multimedia and Security Solutions. He is an engaged Professional volunteer, was the Chairman for IEEE Bangalore section (2014-2015) and Industry Relations for IEEE - Asia Pacific (2014-15).

Tej Pochiraju

 

Tej runs Jaaga Startup with a fantastic group of people. Jaaga Startup helps derisk early stages of building need-driven startups by sharing knowledge and infrastructure within a community of exceptional entrepreneurs. Previously, Tej ran two consulting startups, Micrograce in Bangalore/Leicester and Aristos Labs in Belfast. In between the two, he led wireless/microwave product development at Pera Technology. Most recently, he failed at trying to build beyon:labs - a hardware product startup. During his relatively nascent career, he has worked with over 150 SMEs across the globe and helped build over 30 hardware products. He holds a PhD from Queen's University of Belfast, a Master's from IIT Kharagpur and a Bachelor's from Mumbai University.

Divya Tiwari

 

A Fellow of IIM Bangalore with a PhD in Supply Chain Management, Divya has more than 12 years of experience in the area of Supply Chain Management and Operations. She has been a Consultant/SME for various assignments across industries such as FMCG, Industrial, Life Sciences, Environment, IT and Hospitality. She had joined Saahas in Jan 2014 after championing the cause of “Segregation at Source” in her own apartment and moved by the mounting problems related to waste management. Dinesh is the L&D Lead of Hewlett Packard Enterprise in India. He has worked in various roles in the Business, HR Generalist and Learning & Development .Prior to joining HP, Dinesh worked in Wipro in various roles in Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical Support. With over 30 years work experience, he is a leader with a broad understanding of the business strategies, has a strategic view of the business and is passionate in the area of people development. Kabir Arora

 

Kabir is a passionate geographer. Having lived in eight different cities of India, he is trying to make sense of prevailing urbanity. Kabir coordinates Alliance of Indian Wastepickers– an informal network of organizations, cooperatives, and companies working on waste management with the help of waste pickers. Kabir graduated with B.A. (Hons.) in Geography from Jamia Millia Islamia (National Muslim University), New Delhi.  He was a Gandhi fellow and has also completed a PG Diploma in Urban Environment Management & Environment Law, from WWF-India & National Law University, Delhi along with a PWP-UD from Indian Institute for Human Settlements, Bangalore. Kabir is also a Board Member of Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) and has participated in Conference of Parties (COP) – 11, 12 of ‘Convention on Biological Diversity’, and COP 20 of ‘United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change-UNFCCC’. Manvel Alur

 

Manvel, Founder, Environmental Synergies in Development (ENSYDE), has over 23 years of experience in new market creation, business development, project & programme management, and project finance. Sectoral experience spans several areas including climate change, education, CSR, sustainable business integration, and responsible supply chain management. She has guided over 50 companies in implementing environmentally sustainable businesses and assisted in the implementation of over 25 clean technology projects financed by international organizations in various countries reducing over 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions. She has worked extensively in India, USA, Philippines, Thailand, and Kyrgyz Republic, and with international agencies such as The World Bank, ADB, USAID, UNEP, UNDP, ADB, in addition to various Central and State Government Agencies both in India and the USA.

Nupur Tandon

 

Nupur moved back from France in 2007 and was  working as a Trade Officer with the Embassy of France in New Delhi; She did her M Sc in Environmental Sciences having realized the need to do something meaningful. Moving to Bangalore in 2010, she worked with NGOs to understand the real ground level problems of management of waste in the city. In 2013, she founded pro waste concepts pvt.ltd as a “for profit social enterprise”. Pro waste focuses on bringing about a frame work change and works with people to transform their mindset towards waste. Pro waste also implements sustainable, decentralized solid waste management systems and processes to create “zero waste zones”.

Col. Shrikumar

 

He has served in all types of terrain and has also taken part in anti terrorist operations in Kashmir valley as well as North East. He has also operated in war like conditions including the Kargil operations. Colonel has the unique distinction of having successfully commanded the same battalion in which he was commissioned.  During the Kargil operations, the Battalion was bestowed with the Army Commander’s citation for operational excellence in war. He was awarded Sena Medal (Gallantry) twice by The President of India; the first time as a captain for anti terrorist action in North east and for the second time as a Colonel during Kargil operations. The officer has since retired and is now heading the Facilities department at Puravankara.

Sridhar Pabisetty

 

Sridhar , a public policy and Urban Governance specialist, is the Chief Executive Officer of Namma Bengaluru Foundation, an organization working towards making Bengaluru a model city. He is also the Chief Enabler at Centre for Inclusive Governance, a citizens collective for social actions on public problems. Prior to this, Sridhar was the Chief Programs Officer at B.PAC and has been advisor to the Government of Karnataka's Sakala Mission in improving Transparency and Accountability in Governance.  He was also part of various government committees including Samarthya - Enabling Informal waste pickers get formal recognition, Simplification of Citizen oriented forms in BESCOM, Karnataka Tourism Vision Group apart from National Election Watch and was the COO for Centre for Public Policy, IIMB. He has also worked in fast growing hitech companies including Zyme and Aditi. He specializes in nurturing inclusive enterprises across the world and helps them to develop long term corporate strategy and build business models with focus on scalability and sustainability. He is on the Board of Advisors of Namma Cycle and Reap Benefit and is on the panel of judges of various startup competitions including the Next Big Idea, Acara Challenge and the William James Foundation's Entrepreneurship challenge. Sridhar has an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a BE in Computer Science with distinction from Bangalore University.

 

VASUKI IYENGAR

 

21 years of experience in IT Industry worked for companies like Oracle, Honeywell, Fidelity, Deutsche Bank etc in India and US. Now, for the last 3 years, he is managing two startup companies, 1) iProcess Info India Pvt Ltd - Developing a set of software application on mobile devices for Oil and Natural Gas Industries and Manufacturing Industries. 2) ShudhLabh Solutions Pvt Ltd, Director and founding Partner. ShudhLabh is into community composting and solid waste management solutions.  Founded in 2014, they are managing about 20 bulk generators. He has been composting for the last 5 years and now uses both aerobic and unaerobic (Bokashi) composting methods at home. Ph: 9845690778

Gobind V. Srivatsa

A nature lover at heart, Gobind spent his initial years with eco-friendly resorts and was the General Manager of the best resort in the Andamans. His city life started in the Facilities Management industry where he grew quickly and was the CEO of a mid-sized company. Entering the Solid Waste Management field 4 years ago was a happy coincidence where he found his passion. Heading the Waste Collection & Transportation in 37 wards in Bangalore (for the BBMP), he led a team of over 3000+ Pourakarmikas (waste pickers), 400+ Autos & 50 + Heavy vehicles (compactors & tippers) handling over 500 TPD of waste for the city. He now runs his own company – “Waste Alternatives” which works on alternate solutions to the waste problem. He has also run biogas plants, plastic recycling plants, dry waste collection centers, decentralized composting plants and designed solutions for various cities in the country. Gobind is a hands on man and has a good understanding of the ground realities and the business end of the MSW industry. He has also worked closely with various Unions and interest groups for the welfare of Pourakarmikas and to improve segregation at source.
